Bharath Salt Refineries Pvt. Ltd. incorporated in the year 1990 was originally engaged in the trading of salt. The company was allotted 8,500
acres of land under lease at Jakhau, Gujarat during 1996-97 where it undertook development in a phased manner. During the first phase
2,500 acres of land was developed and production of salt commenced in the year 2000. The company was also allotted about 6,500 acres of
leasehold land at Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh for salt development. Production started in 2004. Today Bharath Salt has an annual production
of around 0.7 million tons and turn over of USD 12 million.
