Jakhau, once a sleepy village, barren and uninhabitable saw a gradual transformation from after we initiated our salt works there. Besides providing gainful employment to over 1125 families that was otherwise unknown to this hamlet, the establishment of a crèche to care for the children of female labourers improved the health and hygiene of the toddlers and wiped out the constant fears over their welfare riding high in the minds of their mothers. The primary school that we established there helped inculcate a habit for education for the youngsters there who had otherwise no nearby option. The healthcare centre that the company organised in the village helped eradicate niggling problems amongst children, provided better health among the workers and paved the way for a healthier, happier lifestyle for the larger society.
Such welfare measures are duplicated in every one of the centres of our operations, be it the granite quarries, granite factories or the mineral deposits...all with the intention of providing a little more than a monetary recommencement for a hard day's work, yet immeasurable in monetary value.
The companies sponsor the education of the children of all its employees until the school final programme and in certain meritorious cases even beyond.
An educated child, a healthier individual and a well-tended employee contribute to a happier family, a more resourceful society and a more productive nation.
